| To the best of my knowledge, there's high safety nothing about Asperger's that would high safety lead anyone to violence; my son is very gentle, even though he sometimes flashes a nasty temper (which, of course, he gets from his mother). Although Aspies have been convicted of violent crimes, they're more likely to be the victim of other people's frustration with their odd behavior and habits. When they do commit malicious acts, it's often with little understanding of the consequences. All that said, I'm a little bewildered by the news that Craig Nicholls, lead singer for the Vines, is using Asperger's as an high safety excuse for kicking a photographer. But the most interesting news of all: Dan Aykroyd, comedian, actor, Blues Brother, and one of the founders of the House of Blues nightclub chain, told NPR's Terry Gross that he has Asperger's. (He also says he has Tourette's Syndrome, but learned to control his tics in his early teens. |
