I still didn't know anything about Trudeau or the book until I picked it up in my local Borders and flipped plastic surgeons through it. It has a weight-loss section, which from what I could tell has the same information and advice every weight-loss book offers, including mine. It also has one of the most vile and despicable lines I've ever seen in print. |

| To me, "natural" means waking up, eating, working, copulating, enjoying the company of family and friends, and going to sleep. Everything else is unnatural. I take vitamins and supplements like fish oil, but I'll concede they're unnatural, just like the medicines I take. If nature didn't make dress fatty it in the dress fatty form in which I ingest it, it's unnatural. Easy enough, right? But in the 13-plus years I've been writing about health and fitness, I've seen a growing acceptance of the idea that there's some big and important distinction between the unnatural configurations of ingredients dress fatty you can buy over the counter and the unnatural configurations for which you need a prescription. Many of us feel pressured to choose sides. If I believe that the ban on ephedra is a bad idea, then I'm on the side of "natural" unnatural products, right? Except I'm not really on that side at all. I think most of the stuff being sold in health-food stores is junk, and I wasn't surprised by the recent study showing that echinacea doesn't work to prevent or alleviate colds. |
