I'm not making fun of the research -- I'm in favor of a test that gives parents and doctors assurance plump rumps tgp that they're dealing with a genuine psychiatric condition, and not just the irrational exuberance of the preschool years. My question is, plump rumps tgp what are they going to do with this knowledge? Use it to medicate more 4-year-olds? I sure as hell hope not. I understand as well as anyone the need to medicate school-age kids who can't focus enough to get their work done, and who distract others. ADHD medications allow these kids a few hours of normalcy, and that can make all the difference academically and socially. Still, I wonder how useful it is to know with near-clinical certainty that your 4-year-old has ADHD. It's obvious in the most severe cases -- at least, that's certainly been my experience as a parent -- and in the borderline cases, the problem probably isn't severe enough to warrant medication anyway.
